Shovel first broke ground in 1992 and construction of a major project was underway in the heart of Prince George’s County.  Lake Pointe at Town Centre Condominium, would comprise of eighteen (18) buildings each with twelve (12) units, a total of two hundred sixteen (216) residential homes.  With all 18 buildings completed, 1997 was the first full year in which the governance of the community went entirely in the hands of the community.   “We, the owners and the Board of Directors, have the privilege and the responsibility of collectively taking care of ourselves,” says Anthony Brown, former president of Lake Pointe and former Lieutenant Governer of Maryland.  The inaugural Board of Directors for Lake Pointe was Anthony Brown at President, Raymond Bigby as Vice President, William Fields as Treasurer, Linda Maiden as Secretary, Tyrone Wells as Director and Lorraine Walker as Recording Secretary.

The young Lake Pointe was faced with many issues like adding more lighting and beautifying the property.  In 2002 Lake Pointe installed a Washingtonian style ornamental iron fence around the property.  Lake Pointe had a number of management companies from Comanco, CMI, Abaris Realty, and Metropolis before partnering with RGN in 2011. By 2015, the Board knew in order for Lake Pointe to thrive, it needed a management company that could withstand the gold standard for its community.  Quality 1 Management took over and helped Lake Pointe transition to the premier condominium community in Prince George's County. Lake Pointe is conveniently located close to the Largo Towne Center, University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, Woodmore Town Centre, Largo Town Center Metro station (blue line) and Fed Ex Field, home of the Washington Redskins.  Although many faces have come and gone over the years, one thing remains the same.  Lake Pointe is a community of growth and continues to strive to be place where its residents can proudly call home.
